Family Therapy in McKinney, TX and Birmingham, AL
You Want the Best For Your Family, We Will Help You Fulfill That Goal
There are communication issues where your family seems to never be on the same page which creates strain and stress. Maybe your teen feels misunderstood after experiencing a family life transition as a result of divorce or the addition of a step-parent. Or, your pre-teen is struggling with the addition of a new baby and feels like they are no longer the center of your attention. You want your family to be close again but with strained relationships between members of the family, it seems like an impossible goal.
Perhaps, your family just moved and as a result, your spouse and you are having difficulty adjusting. Everyone is feeling overwhelmed with the transition and it's affecting family life negatively. Or, a member of your family has died or is coping with a chronic illness such as cancer or multiple sclerosis. You're worried about how the rest of your family is reacting to the changes and you need help finding a way to heal. You want the best for them, but it's a difficult time. At Sharp Wellness our team of therapists understand these challenges and is here to help.
What are the Benefits of Family Therapy?
Striving to achieve familial harmony, peace, and understanding is a noble goal. But it's not easy to do on your own, especially when emotions are high and all the members are on different pages. Family therapy includes the benefits of having an impartial therapist navigating through difficult conversations, managing emotional hurdles, and providing insight on how to work together as a family unit.
Here are some of the key benefits of family therapy:
Improved communication and understanding between family members
Strategies for managing stress and conflict within the family home
Increase empathy, awareness, and sensitivity to other family member’s needs and feelings
Improved problem-solving skills that can be used within the family structure
A safe space for family members to share their feelings and be heard
A better understanding of each family member’s unique needs and expectations
Help the family become more cohesive and unified
Incorporation of healthy coping mechanisms to deal with difficult life situations
At Sharp Wellness, we will meet your family and its members where you are. We will accept and collaborate with each of you to fulfill your wish for a close, cohesive, and mindful family. Our goal is to help you grow and learn together as a strong unit that can bond and share in each other's successes and challenges. Our therapists won't push you but we will challenge you and your family when we think you are ready to take the next step.
We Are Ready to Help You Achieve Your Goals
Families are complicated and come with complex emotions. We will not judge you and your family members but will listen, understand, and support each of you. We understand how unique family dynamics can be and will work with you to reach the goals you have set for your family. Our therapists at Sharp Wellness have worked with many families. Before family therapy, they were struggling to talk with one another without there being conflict or misunderstanding. The relationships were strained or had broken down completely.
After family therapy, the families became closer and more understanding of each other's wants and needs. They were able to be more compassionate and understanding of each other's feelings. Some families were able to navigate their family member's health issues, while others were able to build better relationships between newly blended families.
No Matter Where Your Family is, Our Therapists Will Meet You There
It doesn't matter if your family is just starting out or has been together for many years, Sharp Wellness can help you. Relationships are difficult enough, but when you add an abundance of stressors such as the death of a loved one, illness, or divorce into the equation you may need help from an impartial individual who has your family's best interest at heart.
We will help you learn how to communicate better and move forward as a stronger unit. Our therapists will work with each member of the family and the unit to address issues, come up with solutions, and process what is on each family member's mind. Your therapist will help you create a safe space for communication and help your family work together to build a healthier, happier life.
Our Approach to Family Therapy
At Sharp Wellness, we approach family therapy knowing each family is unique which means so is their therapy. We will work with you to create a plan and determine the best approach for your family based on what works best for each individual member. From communication issues to unresolved anger and more, our goal is to help your family build the skills needed for a healthy relationship.
At Sharp Wellness, We Believe that Every Family Deserves the Highest Quality of Care.
Our skilled therapists will use techniques like the "balance the couch" method where we ask each family member about their concerns and challenges but also their hopes for family therapy. We will encourage everyone to talk and listen, but also clarify words and feelings so everyone is understood. Our approach creates a safe environment for families to express all the feelings and emotions that may have been repressed due to fear of judgment or rejection.
Together, we will create a new or improved hierarchy in your family so that all family members are respected and understood. We will also work together to come up with strategies and healthy coping mechanisms to deal with difficult life situations. This way your family can explore how you can work together to make positive changes.
