Intake Paperwork
1
Before your testing appointment, our team will send you a set of intake forms to complete at least 48 hours in advance. These include a biopsychosocial questionnaire, brief screenings for anxiety, depression, and autism-related traits, a testing consent form, and our standard practice consents. Current clients may already have some of the standard consents on file. Completing these forms ahead of time helps your provider understand your history, current concerns, and goals so your appointment can be as thorough and productive as possible.
Clinical Interview (120 Minutes)
2
During the 120-minute clinical interview, you will meet with Kristin or Rachel for an in-depth conversation about your experiences and concerns. Your provider will explore areas such as family, developmental, and medical history, along with how attention, organization, impulsivity, or other symptoms affect your work, relationships, finances, household responsibilities, and everyday routines. This semi-structured interview helps create a complete picture of your needs and supports an accurate, individualized evaluation.
additional testing
3
After the clinical interview, Kristin or Rachel will send you additional standardized assessments to complete, including measures related to ADHD symptoms, daily functioning, and executive functioning. One assessment will be completed through a separate secure testing platform, and an additional trauma screening may be included when clinically appropriate. Once all assessments have been completed and returned, our team will contact you to schedule your follow-up appointment.
results session
4
Within one to two weeks after all testing has been completed, you will meet with Kristin or Rachel for a 50-minute results session. Your provider will review the findings with you, explain what the results mean, answer your questions, and discuss personalized recommendations and possible next steps for treatment, accommodations, or additional support.
Summary Report
5
Your summary report will be sent within one to two weeks after the results session and will provide an overview of the assessment findings, conclusions, and recommended next steps. Clients who need a more detailed, comprehensive report may request one for an additional fee. Comprehensive reports typically have a three- to four-week turnaround following the results appointment.
ALSO OFFERING: mini aDHD Evaluation for ages 18+
Beginning August 10, Sharp Wellness & Counseling will offer mini ADHD evaluations for adults in McKinney, Texas, and Birmingham, Alabama. This one-hour service is designed for individuals who want an initial look at whether their experiences may be consistent with ADHD before committing to a full assessment.
Before the appointment, clients will complete the ASRS ADHD screener and standard informed-consent paperwork. The estimated time to complete the mini ADHD evaluation is one hour.
What is the difference between a full ADHD Evaluation and a mini ADHD evaluation?
A mini ADHD evaluation is an initial screening and clinical consultation. It can help identify symptoms that may be associated with ADHD and determine whether comprehensive testing may be appropriate. However, it is not a formal diagnosis and does not include the full testing battery, diagnostic report, or documentation typically required by psychiatrists and medical providers for medication management.
A full ADHD evaluation includes a detailed clinical interview, standardized assessments, a results session, and a written summary of the findings and recommendations. This process is designed to provide a more complete diagnostic picture and documentation that may be shared with other healthcare professionals.
Clients who begin with a mini evaluation and later choose to complete the full assessment will have the amount already paid for the mini evaluation applied toward the cost of the comprehensive evaluation.
***Important: A mini ADHD evaluation cannot be used as a formal ADHD diagnosis. Psychiatrists and other medical providers may require a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation before considering medication support.***

When You Understand Your Brain, Everything Starts To Make More Sense.
You’ve noticed that things feel harder than they should. Staying focused, starting tasks, and following through takes more effort than it seems to for others. You tell yourself you just need to try harder, be more organized, and get it together.
But over time, the overwhelm builds. You feel scattered, frustrated, and maybe even down on yourself. You are constantly trying to keep up, yet it feels like you are always one step behind. The mental load, the racing thoughts, and the exhaustion from trying to push through have become your new normal.
Perhaps you have started to notice this impacting your work, your relationships, or how you see yourself. You are realizing this is not about laziness or lack of effort. It may be related to ADHD or how your brain processes the world.
This is not how you want to keep living. You want clarity, confidence, and a better understanding of how your mind works.
At Sharp Wellness, we offer ADHD therapy and testing in McKinney, Texas and Birmingham, Alabama. Our team understands these challenges and is here to help you work with your brain, not against it.
What are the Signs and Symptoms of ADHD?
ADHD can present in many different ways and can affect attention, organization, emotional regulation, motivation, and daily functioning. Because ADHD looks different from person to person, not everyone will experience the same symptoms or challenges.
Some people may struggle primarily with focus and organization, while others may experience restlessness, impulsivity, difficulty managing emotions, or feeling constantly overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities.
Common signs and symptoms of ADHD may include:
-Difficulty focusing or maintaining attention
-Easily becoming distracted or forgetful
-Trouble starting or completing tasks
-Challenges with organization and time management
-Frequently losing or misplacing important items
-Restlessness or feeling internally “on the go”
-Impulsivity or difficulty slowing down thoughts or actions
-Procrastination, especially with overwhelming or uninteresting tasks
-Hyperfocus on certain activities or interests
-Difficulty transitioning between tasks
-Emotional overwhelm or difficulty regulating emotions
-Frequently feeling behind, overwhelmed, or mentally exhausted
ADHD can affect many areas of daily life, including work, school, relationships, routines, and self-esteem. It can be frustrating when tasks that seem simple for others require significantly more effort, planning, or mental energy.
If you are experiencing these challenges, ADHD therapy and ADHD testing can help provide greater clarity, identify your individual needs, and offer practical tools and strategies to make everyday life feel more manageable.
