Frequently asked questions

What is Counseling?

Counseling is a unique relationship that allows individuals, couples, and families to accomplish mental health, wellness, career, relationship and educational goals. Counseling helps people make changes in their ways of feeling, thinking, and behaving. The relationship between a therapist and their client focuses on a goal-based collaboration that is non-judgemental and supportive. The client and therapist work toward healing by sharing the client's story, creating coping mechanisms, and developing plans to accomplish goals. The therapists at Sharp Wellness and Counseling have been extensively trained to provide the help clients need to achieve their goals.

How long should I expect to be in therapy?

Each individual is unique, and thus their therapy experience will vary. Some clients come for 6 to 8 weeks to work on a specific issue or concern. Other clients come to therapy for 6 months to a year to work through current issues as well as the underlying issues. Clients also come in for several years to grow and work through problems continuously throughout their life. There is no specific number of sessions or amount of time that needs to be met in order to achieve growth.

Do you accept insurance?

Sharp Wellness and Counseling does not work with insurance companies directly. If requested, we will be happy to provide a receipt which you can then submit to your insurance company. Often times, your insurance provider will reimburse you a percentage of the session cost. Sharp Wellness and Counseling places a great value on your confidentiality and allowing you to remain in control of your health. By being an out of network provider, Sharp places you in control of your growth, and there is no limit on your treatment, nor is there a diagnosis on your medical records.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sharp Counseling and Wellness requires 24-hour notice for a cancellation or rescheduling request. If you do not give 24-hour notice, you will be charged for the FULL amount of the session. For that reason, we urge you to call or email in advance. You can also take advantage of our “Contact Us” option.
