Hello there! I am Chris!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate supervised by Julia Wesley, LMFT-S. I like to describe myself as a guide, helping you pick up and hold the pen as you go on to write your own story. I work with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate transitions, confusion, and stress and help them find peace in the storm. My goal is to help prepare you with the tools and insights you need to establish healthy relationships and fully experience life.

I want to create a comfortable and nonjudgmental environment where anyone can feel free to be their authentic selves and find the courage to unshackle their heaviest burdens. I primarily utilize a structural approach, which helps redefine the relationships and establish appropriate boundaries. I also like to use reflective and experiential techniques so that the client does not simply know but rather fully understands their goals and changes. I believe that all of this begins and ends with the courage to do something that makes a meaningful difference.

  • Enabling Commuication

If I had a dollar for every time, someone told me they wanted to get better at communicating…well, I’d have quite a few dollars. So, believe me when I say you are not alone when you share about feeling unheard or that it’s difficult to understand your partner. I believe that a majority of problems can be solved with proper communication, whether that is the words we speak or the nonverbals of our behavior. Language is the cornerstone of society, and understanding and properly wielding it allows one to experience life in a new and beautiful way.

  • A New Perspective

Have you ever seen those tests on the internet where you look at a close-up of an image and try to guess what it is? Sometimes life is like that! We get so caught up in the details of the problem that we completely miss the bigger picture. I help my clients find a place where they can see themselves and their situation from a different angle and reexamine their strengths and problems. Sometimes change begins with something as simple as a different perspective.

  • The Human Experience

Life sucks. It is also great. And now it’s tough again. Life is a paradoxical blend of so many emotions that it can often be too overwhelming. At these difficult times, we often resort to unhealthy behaviors and coping strategies to make it to the next day. While the happy and exciting days are certainly my favorite, they wouldn’t exist without the sad ones. If any of this resonates with you, I would love to help you find new and better ways to experience the full range of emotions as your true and happy self.

  • More About Me

When not in the office, I am likely catching up on the latest shows and movies or a good podcast or book. I am also a lover of space, so I am probably reading up on an upcoming rocket launch or cosmic discovery or watching a meteor shower or satellite fly over the night sky. Whatever it is, I love nothing more than doing it with my wife and our little Yorkie puppy.

"Metaphor, that’s how this whole fabric of mental interconnections holds together. Metaphor is right at the bottom of being alive."
